Biography

Grace Bentley was born on the 27th of July, 2000 in her home town Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, England. She attended Bexhill College, where she studied English Literature, Philosophy and Fine Art. These options have influenced her as she often likes to tackle bigger, philosophical questions in her Artwork. She is now currently studying Fine Art at the University of East London.

Throughout her life Grace Bentley has been captivated by the darker themes of art, often aiming to find the hidden beauty within. She enjoys creating juxtaposition between two opposing qualities, whether that be light and dark or soft and rough. Though Bentley's art is quite experimental and broad, her main choice of medium is oil paint. The long, tiresome hours of producing a painting creates a state of meditation for her, that can help her reflect on her current project and develop it further.

Bentley's aim for the future of her work is to reach deeper into the mystery of peace meeting chaos. Is it possible for these two themes to combine? Is this something we should be aiming for and can this be shown through art?
