New Project: Flying car

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

For this new Oil painting, my aims are to create a piece that is almost too much to look at. I want there to be vibrant colours, hidden meanings and a lot of detail revolving in every inch of the piece.

My plan is to create a scene in a car, where a couple are travelling to a new home.... except they're not driving, they're flying through space....and that new home is a new planet. My idea is to show the lack of care we have now about the planet we live on, as well as the lack of remorse we might face if we ever do loose it. If we want to stay on this planet then we need to learn to truly value it, otherwise we may end up like the two in the painting, lacking guilt and conscience.

I want this painting to be as realistic as possible, so that why I have decided to do my research and base this new home on a real-life planet that we one day may go to. This Planet is called Goldilocks planet and resides in the 'Gliese 581' system, in the Libra constellation. I am hopeful that I will be able to show all this detail within my painting, this may be by showing the destination on a SAT NAV.

Although this scene will be taking place in the future, I wanted to still involve elements of today's society to add some comedy to the picture. For example, maybe some current fashion on one of the couples, or a toy handing from the rear-view mirror. These elements will hopefully help the image to appear more relatable, even though our planet is dying, we still value these small things in our personal lives.

I plan to make this image vibrant by including a beautiful pink galaxy, mimicking where the Libra constellation is placed.... as well as showing the earth exploding behind them in the rear-view mirror.
