Untitled

I created this piece just before returning back to university, after Christmas. I wanted to create a piece that reflected the weirdness of our time in Covid.

I remember, in the first lockdown, my family and I used to wash all of our shopping when we came home from the shops. It felt crazy to wash a packet of bread with a soapy sponge, but it sort of sums up the whole of this year for me. Everything is distorted and brightly shinning, as if the fingers are all numb. They are sore and glowing red, yet the bubbles look soft and beautifully clean.

This piece was fun to make, to explore the area of distortion further, and to really have fun with it.
